An action plan allows you and your doctor to create a personalized program for managing your asthma.
If your asthma is well-controlled then you are in the "green zone". Congratulations! Now that your asthma is well controlled it is time to get an asthma action plan. An asthma action plan is a strategy that you can use to manage your asthma when it gets out of control. Studies have shown that having a written agreement with your doctor helps you manage your asthma at home. If your asthma is not totally controlled then you are in the "yellow zone" and you need a controller medication adjustment.
If you're experiencing severe asthma symptoms, you're asthma is poorly controlled and you are in the "red zone" and you require immediate medical attention.
Having an asthma action plan will allow you to identify when you're in one of these three zones and the steps required to regain total asthma control.
