Staying Positive and Active

Being breathless is extremely unpleasant for people with COPD, and sometimes this can start a negative cycle of inactivity, depression and a worsening of the quality of life. This often starts because people become anxious when they get out of breath, so they stop doing things they enjoy. They may become depressed, unmotivated and unfit, so they are then less able to do things they enjoy.

This section is about things you can do for yourself to help stay positive and active. If you feel you may be sinking into a depression it is important that you see your doctor, who will be able to help you overcome it.
