It was in Seja von Wersebe's memory that Seja's Run was first established in 1996 by the alumni of the class of 1991 of the Toronto French School (TFS). Their classmate Seja, a TFS student, passed away in 1989 at age 16 -- asthma was a contributing factor in her death. Seja's classmates wanted to commemorate Seja and decided to organize a community event that would raise funds for asthma research, and they selected the Asthma Society of Canada as their cause.
